We are excited to announce that the ArcherySTL Rangers team will be moving to a “crossbow-only” format! This move comes with much anticipation among the team and coaches in the light of our performance this previous indoor season. The team has collectively concluded that archery is a “solved problem” and, as one JOAD member stated, “we’re hacking, bruh.”
In light of this information, we’re streamlining our skill acquisition cycle in favor of a consistent, strongly regulated process for goal acquisition that crossbows have shown to historically out-perform all other archery forms for several centuries now.
The change came when, at one of our competitions, a new JOAD member exclaimed on the line during their first flight “I’ve got HOW MUCH TIME? Bet.” Once we collectively noticed that archery as a sport doesn’t reward increased firing rates – the single downside factor of crossbows – was eliminated and we saw a golden opportunity to gain an advantage in our competitive stance.
In an overly abundant example of sportsmanship, we are publicly announcing this strategy to the world in an effort to help national and international archery bodies move into the 21st century and embrace the clean, precise, and (let’s be honest) somewhat terrifying prospect of modern crossbows in every archery competition.
We’ll see you on the awards podium!
